Call for Nominations for Board of Directors
The Champlain Heights Community Association (CHCA) is seeking dedicated and community-minded individuals to stand for election to our Board of Directors.
The Champlain Heights Community Association is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation through a Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) to provide community services for residents of Champlain Heights Community.
Our Mission is to foster connection within the Champlain Heights community through meaningful, inclusive and sustainable community services.
The Role of a Director
Unlike many non-profit boards, the CHCA Board is also a working management board. In addition to governance responsibilities, Directors regularly participate in operational decision-making regarding.
Director Expectations
• Attend one regular Board meeting each month.
• Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance.
• Serve on at least one Board committee.
• Complete a two year term
• Participate respectfully in discussion and decision-making.
• Act in the best interests of the Association and the community.
• Support CHCA events and activities whenever possible.
Who Should Apply?
We are looking for individuals who have a connection to the Champlain Heights community and who are committed to strengthening community life.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and levels of experience. Previous board experience is valuable but not required. We also strongly encourage nominations from individuals with a diversity of lived experiences, perspectives, cultures, ages, abilities and identities. A diverse Board helps us better understand and serve the community we represent.
We encourage nominations from individuals with experience in:
• Human Resources
• IT and Digital Systems
• Marketing and Communications
• Fundraising and Grant Development
