Champlain Heights youth worker Lynsey MacDonald took the lead with a group of young people to create a mural during Youth Week May 1 to 7, 2016.
With a design by artist Igor Santizo, the youth added vibrant colours to create a landscape portrait.
The next job will be to get the mural mounted and the Champlain Heights Community Association has dedicated funds to have it permanently located in the youth lounge at Champlain Heights Community Centre.
“I was absolutely awe-struck by the care and attention the youth demonstrated while painting,” Lynsey said. “I am proud of the youth in this community, and they should be proud of their efforts in making the Champlain Heights Youth Lounge a bright and more welcoming space.”
Youth Week took place at Creekside Community Centre and included activities for teens aged 13 to 18 years.
