Champlain Heights Community Centre Association is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and responsible individuals to plan, lead and implement our summer “Sunplash” supported Day Camp programs for roughly 80 children ages 6 to 14 years.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large groups of children in a recreational or educational program setting
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of age developmentally appropriate activities in the areas of sports, arts, culture, outdoor recreation and environmental studies
  • Strong leadership, administration and planning skills
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with children who are from diverse cultural, developmental and economic backgrounds
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset

Job Specifications:

  • Work with a team to plan, advertise and implement a wide range of day camp activities
  • Follow, at all times, established procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety of all program participants, staff and volunteers
  • Encourage physical and mental fitness through exposure to a wide range of cultural, artistic and recreational activities
  • Work with a group of peers to deliver a safe, fun, creative environment for day camp participants each day
  • Build positive relationships with participants, parents, guardians, co-worker’s and the community through active participation in program activities
  • Provide feedback to parents, guardians and participants that foster self-confidence and positive social behaviors
  • Always provide a positive role model to participants

Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful completion of a Police Information Check
  • Current First Aid/CPR level C certification or willingness to obtain prior to the first day of the program
  • As conditions of a position covered by the Canada Summer Jobs grant, the successful applicant must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years. And must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection As well must be available to work the full duration of the dates stated below.
  • Preference will be given to those who are choosing a career in recreation, education, social services or social sciences

Rate of Pay:

Senior Leader- $23/per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
Junior Leader– $21/per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

Job Duration: Up to 12 weeks of employment between June 15th to September 4, 2026

Hours of Work: 30 to 40 hours a week/ Monday to Friday excluding statutory holidays
