Supported Junior Sunsplash | 8:45 AM-3:15 PM | Week 8

August-23 to August-27, 2021 from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm

Limited additional support is available for children (6-8yrs) with disabilities wanting to attend the Sunsplash summer day camp. If you are interested in learning about this support please contact Access.services@vancouver.ca or call 778-231-3114 for information and an application form. There is a maximum of two weeks of support available per child and there are eligibility requirements. One to one support is not provided. Online registration is not available. Drop-off Time: 8:45 AMPick-up Time: 3:15 PMPlease note: Children will be divided into pods of 7 and will have a designated leader all week. The day camp will operate rain or shine. All activities and out trips will be held outdoors within walking distance of the camp’s home base, no public transit or charter buses will be used.Parents/Guardians will receive an email of the Parent Communication/Policy manual and forms prior to camp, outlining camp expectations and guidelines.Children must have completed kindergarten and be eligible for grade 1 in order to register for camp.? Outdoor day camps will operate rain or shine unless there is an Environment Canada Weather Warning. Please refer to Refund Policy below.? Children should dress appropriately for the weather. Please remember: bathing suit, hat, sunscreen, rain gear, lunch & snack, and water.? Prior to camp, parents/guardians will receive an email with the Parent Communication & Policy Manual (including mandatory waiver/forms), outlining camp expectations and guidelines. These documents need to be handed in on the first day of camp or your child will not be able to attend.? Parents/guardians must sign-in/out their child at drop-off & pick up, and complete the daily health screening questionnaire or the child will not be able to participate in the day’s activities.? Children are required to be dropped off no earlier or picked up no later than the official camp time. Parents and caregivers must pick up their child promptly once notified that their child is ill.? All parents, caregivers, children and staff who have symptoms of COVID-19 OR traveled outside Canada in the last 14 days OR were identified by Public Health as a close contact of a confirmed case must stay home and self-isolate.? Parents and caregivers must assess their child daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before sending them to day camp.? A child may still receive care if another person in their home has symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease, but they remain asymptomatic.? Children who are ill, including children of essential service providers, will not be permitted to attend day camp.? Daily checks for respiratory illness at drop-off by asking parents and caregivers to confirm that the child does not have symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other respiratory disease.? If a parent, caregiver or staff member is unsure if they or a child should self-isolate, they should be directed to use the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool, contact 8-1-1 or the local public health unit. They can also be advised to contact a family physician or nurse practitioner to be assessed for COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases.? Parents are required to fill out a daily screening form upon arrival and before entering the day camp area.

DROP-IN POLICY FOR PROGRAMS

• Program registration is encouraged; this includes being added to the waitlist

FOR PROGRAMS THAT ARE NOT FULL:
• Walk-up drop-ins will be allowed until the program is full
• When the drop-ins have filled the spots, remaining walk-up drop-ins will be asked to wait outside
• There will be a 10 minute grace period for registered participants; spots will be forfeited to remaining walk-up drop-ins at this point

FOR PROGRAMS THAT ARE FULL:
• Drop-in walk-ups are not encouraged and will be asked to wait outside of the centre until 10 minutes after the program start time

PROCESS FOR PROGRAMS THAT ARE FULL:
• registered participants can speak with the front desk to indicate which days they will be absent
• the front desk will call the waitlist to inform these individuals of a spot
– on the day of the program, waitlisted patrons will be called – they can either confirm or deny the drop-in spot
– if a person from the waitlist takes the spot, they will have 10 minutes to check in for their program; a walk-up drop-in can take the spot after the 10 minute grace period
• This drop-in policy has been created in response to COVID-19; it is under a trial period and subject to change


COVID SAFETY at CHAMPLAIN HEIGHTS COMMUNITY CENTRE

GENERAL SAFE PRACTICES
• Registration and payment is required for most programs to help reduce the capacity to allow for physical distancing. Limited drop-ins may be permitted.
• Please arrive no more than 10mins prior to your program time. Patrons may be required to line up prior to entering the facility.
• Please follow physical distancing practice and maintain minimum 2 metres between yourself and others at all times.
• Please bring your own pre-filled water bottle and dress accordingly. Not all fountains and changing rooms will be available.
• The building will not be open for loitering. You will be asked to leave the building once your program has ended.
• Anyone not following safety guidelines or directions from staff will be asked to leave. Please respect and follow directions of staff at all times.

COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY
• All participants, instructors and staff who have symptoms of COVID-19 OR traveled outside Canada in the last 14 days OR were identified by Public Health as a close contact of a confirmed case must stay home and self-isolate.

ENHANCED CLEANING MEASURES
• Reducing the amount of people who can visit at one time.
• Setting up one-way travel around facilities and where it is not possible, two-way travel will be in place.
• Clearing and cleaning programming space in between classes and activities.
• Facility will be sanitized at least twice per day on all high frequency touch points in addition to any regularly scheduled overnight sanitizing/cleaning per operating days of the facility.
