Break-Point Summer Tennis Camp

July 3 @ 1:00 pm - July 6 @ 4:00 pm

For ages 6-9 we will be using the red dot balls as part of the progressive tennis program. Kids will be encouraged to use rackets 25 inches in length for their respective heights. Drills consist of warming up with footwork drills (side shuffle, crossovers, and back peddling) leading into hand/eye coordination drills which include balancing the ball with movement on the racket, rolling the ball with the racket like a you would bowl and ensuring that the grip is held properly between the forehand and backhand grips. Games will be played to keep the kids focused including fruit salad, prison, and boomerang which all focus on hand/eye coordination. There will be lots of breaks to keep the kids hydrated. For the 9-12 year olds, we will warm-up with footwork drills as well and will incorporate the skipping rope to emphasize staying on the balls of the feet versus the heel. 26 inch rackets will be encouraged for this age group and we will be using green dot balls , again part of the progressive tennis program. this group will focus on more of stepping into point play with emphasis on keeping the racket up on the backswing holding the grips properly for the forehand and backhand shots. Games will be played but geared more towards consistency and positioning. These week long tennis camps are taught by a tennis professional with a maximum 6:1 ratio for kids ages 6-12 and take place at the Champlain Heights outdoor tennis courts. www.breakpointsports.com
