Wild Salmon Carnival-Sat Sep 16 & 22

The Wild Salmon Caravan will be coming to Champlain Heights CC on Saturday September 15th to make ART with us in preparation for their parade on Saturday September 22nd .

The theme this year being Wild Salmon to Mermaids, matriarchs, water, healing, regeneration, transformation and change, sustainable energy and Indigenous food systems. Ancient ceremonies, songs, and stories of Coastal and Interior Salish communities will call the Wild Salmon home to the rivers, lakes, and streams of the Fraser Basin and Salish Sea corridor as we travel from the Salish Seas to the Adams River. “We invite everyone to take part in our parades and programs in colourful, creative, cultural expressions of love for wild salmon.” Please see their website for location and times https://wildsalmoncaravan.wordpress.com/

Wild Salmon & Mermaid Art Build Workshops
Saturday September 15

Come create Wild Salmon and Mermaid-inspired Art and get into the spirit of the annual Wild Salmon Caravan that is taking place in September. A local artist will offer inspiration during this family-friendly workshop and offer more information about Indigenous food sovereignty and how to get involved in the Wild Salmon Caravan this year. Rebecca Graham, from the Everett Crowley Weavers, will also be joining us to collaborate on making a large scale Wild Salmon and Mermaid for the parade. All materials are provided and you will get to take home your smaller art creations which can be used during the Wild Salmon Caravan Parade. This event is free, but please register.
